The Alex Benjamin Norris Memorial Fund was established in memory of Alex who passed away in March 1994 after sixteen years battling Fanconi Anemia, a rare genetic blood disease. Alex grew up in Rockville Centre, attending Wilson Elementary School, South Side Middle School and South Side High School. His mother, Fredi Norris, is a teacher in the RVC public school system. The fund, established by Alex’s parents and sisters, keeps alive the spirit and passion with which he lived.
The mission of the Alex Benjamin Norris Memorial Fund is to enhance youth and community projects involving justice, the arts, and service. In addition, the Fund supports programs that assist individuals and families facing the challenges of chronic medical conditions. Many of the projects supported by the Fund directly benefit youth of Rockville Centre. Alex's desire to make the world a better place guides his family in choosing worthwhile projects.
The Newcomers Club is undoubtedly proud that the annual Ladies’ Night Out being planned for this spring will benefit this worthy cause. With your help the Club will have the opportunity to help a Rockville Centre family who is accomplishing many great deeds in memory of their son.
